I am so sorry.
I am so sorry a con man took my party over.
I am so sorry he has awaken the worst on my side of the aisle.
Some of us always knew he was a giant threat. We tried to stop him.
I am so sorry we couldn’t.
I am so sorry he deports children and tears them away from families.
I am so sorry that he disregards the Constitution.
Republicans are supposed to be the ones that cling to the Constitution.
I am so sorry that most Republicans aren’t being loyal to our founding principles.
Some of us are, though.
I am so sorry Trump trusts Putin more than our own intelligence agencies.
I am so sorry Trump praises dictators and undermines our allies.
I am so sorry Trump calls Democrats the enemy- and so many on his side believe him.
Some of us reject that concept thought through and through.
Dems love America just as we do.
I am so sorry we aren’t respected globally anymore.
I am so sorry that Trump puts profit over our own planet.
Facts matter to some of us.
I am SO so sorry he has done everything he could to divide us.
Those of us left on the Republican side that still love our country and our people deeply reject all his principles. You may know us by the label “Never Trumpers”. Donald Trump himself tweeted calling us “Human Scum”.
We are committed to unity.
We are committed to democracy.
We are committed to being stronger both home and abroad.
We are committed to being kinder and smarter both home and abroad.
We are committed to being better than Donald Trump.
We are here. We exist. We want to work with Democrats to solve our most pressing problems. We don’t hate democrats for being more liberal than us. In fact, we think diversity of opinion is essential to a vibrant democracy.
The solution to a better nation is “together”. Together we rebuild this nation. It starts now but will carry us long after Trump leaves office.
We are doing it right here. Time to come together. America’s best days are still to come because of us!

Beautiful words! You should send this letter to every Republican Senator and Congress Representatives. Hopefully it will click on them.

I just KNEW there were some reasonable, rational, respectable Republicans left!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts & opinions. This is a letter every American should read, regardless of party affiliation. Any way to send this to the Republicans in Congress?
Bravo!

Bravo, sir. I’m sure there are many Republicans who feel as you do. Especially in the Senate. So why are they so afraid to speak up? Does he have something on them ? How can they put “him” before their own conscience? How can people say they are “Republicans” and go against everything they supposedly stand for. It’s confusing to me, a lifelong Democrat. I would never stand for this. I live in a “Blue State” but no matter how much I support my Senators and Representatives I would be all over them if they tried this sh!t. People in “red states” should be hounding their Senators non-stop to do the right thing. People like you. You must know others. Let them know you don’t support what they are doing!!

Thanks for speaking out Mr. O’Dell. When I served in the Armed Forces…it was for all Americans and not just for one party or group over another. peace, N

Thank you for your humility, one of several things I have yet to see from Trump. And thank you for your courage to stay in the party when he and his minions have taken it over, intolerant of those who disagree. I left the GOP because of him, but would be happy to work toward a better country with people like you.

Moderate Democrat here and would join this cause with ease. Im tired of being embarrassed of how our commander in chief acts and represents us. And this so called thriving economy that has literally done nothing for the middle class or small townships, like the one I live in. Im ready to start championing a leader not by his/her party affiliation, but by their ideals and policies to help keep this country great, and to help in move forward for everyone.
